The Tridonic EM powerLED PRO FX 201 LiFePO4 1W SCREW is a combined mains and emergency LED driver for self-contained emergency luminaires, illuminated exit signs and other emergency-lighting applications using a single low-voltage LED.

Unlike an emergency conversion module that transfers a larger LED board between separate normal and emergency drivers, the 89800804 directly operates one suitable LED in both normal mains and battery-powered emergency conditions.

During normal operation, the connected LED can be switched through the DALI interface, provided that the switched-phase input remains energised. If the mains supply fails, the unit changes automatically to battery-powered emergency operation.

The PRO version includes a DALI-2 interface and automatic self-testing. It monitors the battery, connected LED and emergency system, performs scheduled functional and duration tests, and reports the system status through DALI and a compatible two-colour indicator LED.

Emergency duration can be configured for one, two or three hours using the duration-selection jumper. The correct LiFePO4 battery must be selected from Tridonic’s current battery-assignment table for the required duration.

The screw-fixing housing measures 139 × 30 × 21mm and is intended for installation inside a suitable luminaire. An optional Tridonic strain-relief enclosure is available where the driver needs to be used independently.

AUTOMATIC TESTING AND DALI

The 89800804 includes automatic self-testing and a DALI-2 interface.

EMERGENCY DURATION

The rated operating duration is selected using the duration jumper:

The LiFePO4 battery, status-indicator LED, test switch, connecting leads and strain-relief enclosure are not included unless expressly stated in the product offer.

INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

This product is intended for installation inside a suitable luminaire by a competent person.

Connect only a suitable LED with a forward voltage between 2.6V and 3.4V. Observe the correct LED polarity, as reverse connection could permanently damage an unprotected LED.

For the LED, mains and power wiring, use suitable solid or stranded conductors between 0.5mm² and 1.5mm². Strip approximately 8.5–9.5mm of insulation.

The DALI terminals are not SELV and must be wired in accordance with the requirements for low-voltage installations.

The battery should remain disconnected until a stable, permanent mains supply is available. Allow the battery to complete its initial charging and activation cycles before relying on the first full-duration test.

After replacing the battery:

1. Allow a complete 24-hour charging period.


2. Perform a full duration test.


3. Confirm that the luminaire completes its selected rated duration.


4. Check that no battery or LED fault remains indicated.

IMPORTANT OPERATING INFORMATION

The driver supports mains and emergency operation.

During normal mains operation, the connected LED can be controlled through DALI. The switched-phase input must remain energised for DALI switching to operate correctly.

The maintained or switched behaviour of the finished luminaire depends on its wiring, DALI programming and control arrangement.

During a mains failure, the unit automatically supplies the connected LED from its approved emergency battery.
