The Tridonic EM converterLED BASIC 205 MH/LiFePO4 250V converts a suitable mains-powered LED luminaire for emergency operation.

It is designed for high-voltage LED modules with a combined forward voltage between 50V and 250V. During normal mains operation, the luminaire’s standard LED driver powers the connected LED module. If the mains supply fails, the emergency unit transfers the designated LED load to battery-powered emergency operation.

The unit uses three-pole changeover technology, providing two-pole LED-module changeover together with delayed power switching for the normal LED driver. It is compatible with most dimmable and non-dimmable constant-current LED drivers, subject to Tridonic’s electrical limits and compatibility requirements.

The 89800582 supports both NiMH and LiFePO4 emergency batteries. Its battery-management system automatically detects the connected battery technology and applies the appropriate charging method.

This 205 version provides a typical emergency output of 4.5W with either an approved NiMH or LiFePO4 battery. It is the most powerful model within this BASIC 250V family and is suited to applications requiring greater emergency light output.

The emergency duration is selected using the duration link. The driver is supplied with the link fitted for three-hour operation. Removing the link before connecting the battery and mains supply configures it for one-hour operation.

This is a BASIC-series manual-test unit. It does not include DALI communication or automatic scheduled functional and duration testing.

INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

This product is intended for installation inside a suitable luminaire by a competent person.

One or more LED modules may be connected, provided their combined forward voltage during emergency operation is between 50V and 250V.

The associated normal LED driver must comply with Tridonic’s compatibility limits. These include:

Compatibility must be confirmed using the intended LED module, normal LED driver and emergency battery. Emergency LED current varies according to the connected LED forward voltage and battery configuration.

Allow the battery to complete its specified initial charge before performing a full rated-duration test.

MANUAL TESTING

The 89800582 is a manual-test emergency driver.

A compatible test switch can be connected to initiate a functional check. Pressing the test switch for at least three seconds simulates a mains failure and allows the luminaire’s emergency operation to be checked.

Periodic functional and full-duration tests must be organised and recorded in accordance with applicable emergency-lighting regulations.

This model does not provide DALI communication or automatic scheduled testing.

IMPORTANT HIGH-VOLTAGE INFORMATION

The 89800582 is designed for LED modules with a forward voltage of 50–250V and has a maximum open-circuit output of 280V.

Unlike the 50V EM converterLED models, its LED output is not SELV. The control gear relies on the luminaire enclosure and installation method to provide protection against accidental contact with live parts.

It must only be installed, tested and serviced by a competent person. The luminaire must provide the required insulation, clearances and protection appropriate to the output voltage.
