The Tridonic EM converterLED PRO 203 MH/LiFePO4 50V is a DALI-2 emergency LED conversion unit designed for installation inside compatible self-contained emergency luminaires.

It operates suitable LED modules with a combined forward voltage between 10 and 54 V. Typical emergency output is 2.5 W when used with an approved NiMH battery or 3.2 W with an approved LiFePO4 battery.

Emergency duration can be configured for one, two or three hours using the duration-selection link. The unit is supplied with the link in the three-hour position and the required duration must be selected before connecting the battery and mains supply.

The integrated DALI-2 interface provides controlled testing, monitoring and fault reporting. The unit automatically monitors the connected battery and emergency LED load, performs regular functional and duration testing, and communicates its status to a compatible DALI emergency-lighting system.

Three-pole switching technology provides two-pole LED-module changeover and delayed mains switching for the associated normal LED driver. The same LED module can therefore operate from a separate LED driver under normal mains conditions and from the emergency converter following a mains failure.

Tridonic specifies the emergency control gear itself for non-maintained operation. If the converted luminaire remains illuminated normally, that maintained illumination is supplied by the separate mains LED driver.

INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING

Installation must be completed by a suitably qualified person in accordance with the Tridonic wiring diagram and applicable emergency-lighting regulations.

Select the required duration before connecting the battery and mains supply:

• Link in position A: Three hours


• No duration link: Two hours


• Link in position B: One hour

The unit is supplied with the duration link in the three-hour position.

Following installation:

• Connect only a battery approved in Tridonic’s current compatibility table


• Connect the bi-colour status-indicator LED


• Confirm that the LED load is within the 10–54 V range


• Allow the battery to complete its specified initial charge


• Perform a functional emergency test


• Complete and record a full-duration test


• Address and commission the DALI-2 interface where required

The PRO version incorporates automatic emergency-lighting testing and monitoring:

IMPORTANT OPERATING-MODE INFORMATION

Tridonic specifies the 89800628 as non-maintained emergency control gear.

It can, however, be installed with a separate standard or DALI LED driver so that the same LED module operates:

• From the normal LED driver while mains power is available


• From the EM converterLED at reduced output following a mains failure

A completed luminaire may therefore provide maintained normal illumination, but the emergency converter itself remains non-maintained control gear.
